What the app does

Magic 8 Ball is a novelty fortune-teller. Shake your phone to reveal a short message in the window of a 3D magic 8 ball. The fortunes come from two sources:

• Popular open prediction markets on Polymarket — read-only public data, summarized into a short answer by Apple Intelligence on your device.
• Voice questions you speak into the phone — transcribed on-device and turned into a magic-8-ball-style answer by Apple Intelligence.

This app is for entertainment. It does not place bets, it does not handle money, and it is not affiliated with Polymarket.

What we collect

Nothing. Magic 8 Ball does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers.

Voice input

When you tap "Ask Me a Question", the app records your voice and uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition to convert it to text. The recording is held only in memory for the duration of the request and is then discarded. Audio is never written to disk and never leaves the device.

AI processing

The app uses Apple Intelligence (the Foundation Models framework) to summarize prediction-market data and to generate fortunes. All AI processing runs locally on the device. Nothing about your question or the resulting fortune is sent to a server.

Network use

The only network traffic the app makes is anonymous, read-only HTTPS requests to gamma-api.polymarket.com to fetch popular prediction markets and the catalog of topic categories. No request includes any identifier for you or your device.

On-device storage

The app uses the system UserDefaults store on your device to remember:

• Cached Polymarket markets and categories (refreshed at most once per day to avoid hitting the API).
• The topic categories you have toggled on or off.
• How many predictions you have viewed (used to decide when to ask for an App Store rating).

This data lives only on your device. Deleting the app removes it.

Permissions

• Microphone — only used while you are actively asking a voice question.
• Speech Recognition — used locally to transcribe your voice question.

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
